Whilst hampered somewhat by the fine weather,a new name, a new date in the calendar and the fuel crisis - the general consensus particularly amongst the exhibitors, was that the Llyn Land and Seafood Festival was a resounding success again this year.Noted by the exhibitors for the friendliness of the people that attend and the magnificent setting alongside the Marina in Pwllheli, this event is turning out to be a firm favourite with producers and the public alike.

Festival organiser Mike Parry commented that "Whilst numbers were slightly down on last year, economically and practically, all things considered, this had been somewhat expected." He added "many of the stands experienced record sales on the first day - which tends to reflect the high spend per head, that apparently our Festival seems to generate."

Some 25% bigger this year - the Festival continues to showcase the wealth of high quality sea and land produce that Wales is capable of supplying.

Mike Parry who works for the the Llyn Fishermen's Association, organises this event with financial aid from the Welsh Assembly Government added " Without this valuable aid from WAG there is no way we could continue to stage with this event on the scale that we do - further aid was received from the Assembly in the form of local AM and Assembly Presiding Officer Lord Dafydd Elis Thomas - who assisted Chef Dai Davies in a cooking demonstration - no casualties were reported and all fingers were accounted for!!"

Already planning for next year Mike Parry added that all the exhibitors present had expressed a desire to return next year, to probably what is the best sited and friendliest Food Festival in Wales.

Saturday and Sunday the 7th and 8th of June sees the SEVENTH Llyn Land and Seafood Festival taking place in the Hafan Marina - Pwllheli.
Open from 10.30 until 5.00pm - the Festival, which has gained a reputation for programming an inspirational mix of seafood and premium food products from around Wales and the UK, this year will deliver a diverse mix of over 40 food and drink stalls in the large marquee, - which is 25% bigger than last year !

A variety of entertaining activities for adults and children will be available at the Festival – which enjoys generous support from the Welsh Assembly Government.

There will be a mouth-watering array of cooked food, fresh raw ingredients for all to “try and buy” - which is a strong feature of the Festival. Visitors and residents will be able to try wines from famous vintners, taste creative cuisine, seasoned with entertainment and information - for the gastronomes and apprentices alike!

People can also enjoy scheduled culinary demonstrations by celebrity chefs Colin Pressdee, Dai Davies and local Chefs Mel Thomas and Gordon Ramsay scholarship winner Aled Williams who hones his craft at Plas Bodegroes. Once again for our younger audience, they will be able to enjoy a FREE face painting service and interactive sessions with Gwynedd Council’s SAC exhibition.

Festival Organiser Mike Parry adds-“This year’s Festival will be built on the tremendous success of last year which was a triumph despite the atrocious weather leading up to the event. New innovative and interesting stalls have been added again this year, to make sure people have something new to try, see and hopefully buy. People to note that the changes in the event this year mean that the Festival is in June and takes place on Saturday and Sunday. Everybody is welcome to what is designed to be a friendly, interesting and rewarding event.”

For those looking to experience a day full of entertainment and delicious food and drink, the entry fee will be £2 for adults with no charge for children – the event has to be worth the free parking alone !
